The Center for Climate and Sustainable Finance Universitas Indonesia (CCSF UI) participated in the Forest Pavilion during the Conference of the Parties (COP) 30 in Belém, Brazil. CCSF UI took part in a high-level session co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) on 19 November 2025, held at the Forest Pavilion COP30.
The session, titled “Climate and Ecosystem Service Benefits of Forests and Trees for Agriculture,” explored how harnessing the potential of forests and agroforestry systems is essential for climate adaptation and integrated landscape approaches that deliver benefits for both farmers and ecosystems.
At this high-level forum, CCSF UI specifically contributed to the discussion on “Forest for Agriculture in Action,” alongside distinguished speakers:
- H. E. Mike Mposha, Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Zambia
- Mr. Bob Kazungu, Assistant Commissioner for Forestry Assessment & Monitoring and National REDD+ Focal Point, Ministry of Water and Environment, Uganda
- Mr. James Connel, UK Government’s International Forests Unit
- Dr. Sonny Mumbunan, Head of the MPP Climate Change Program, Indonesian International Islamic University, CCSF Universitas Indonesia
- Ms. Frances Seymour, Senior Policy Advisor, Woodwell Climate Research Center, IPAM

A Continued Presence in UN Climate Negotiations
This participation at COP30 marks another milestone in CCSF UI’s continued engagement in UN Climate Conferences, consistently conveying key messages aligned with its core competencies in climate and sustainable finance.
At COP28, CCSF UI jointly organized an event with the Finance Commission of the House of Representatives of Indonesia (Komisi XI DPR RI) at the Indonesia Pavilion, addressing “Transformative Fiscal Relations for Forests: Update on General-Purpose Fiscal Transfer (DAU) with Forest Indicators in Indonesia.”
At COP29, CCSF UI hosted a dedicated session titled “Climate Breakthroughs for Finance, Forest, Energy, and Waste” at the Indonesia Pavilion in Baku. The session highlighted Indonesia’s innovation forest-based fiscal transfer initiative and its approach to sustainable finance.
As a research institution, CCSF UI is committed to delivering research-based insights, informing transparent and equitable policy processes, and helping ensure that global climate negotiations remain grounded in evidence and justice. Through its engagement at COP30 and previous COPs, CCSF UI continues to bridge knowledge and action toward a sustainable and climate-resilient future.
